May Hackathon Timeline

Registration

To take part in this Hackathon, you have to register. During the registration, you will be asked to choose a topic of interest among those we are proposing. This will be used to team you up with other participants who want to tackle a challenge in the same category as you. You can learn more about how we build teams in our Hackathon FAQ.

To a topical category, please have a look at the challenges we propose.

Should you already have a team, you can sign up as a team by entering the email of your teammates when registering. While they will have to register on their own, they will receive an invitation to do so at the email address you entered for them.

Welcome

Welcome to the #VersusVirus Hackathon! During this session, you will learn more about the Hackathon and its organisation. You will learn how and where you will meet your fellow teammates. and how and where to contact mentors and get support for your project.

During the session, you will also get to learn more about #VersusVirus, our Hackathons and our Incubator.

Tech Introduction

During the thech intro session, we will present the tools that will be used during the Hackathon: the #VersusVirus App, Slack, and other useful tools.

Before this session, feel free to browse our Hackathon FAQ as well as our resources section. Should you still have questions, you can reach out to the helpdesk.

Team bonding

During this session, you will get to meet your teammates and prepare for the Hackathon. You'll get to know each other and build your unique dynamic to tackle your challenge!

Challenge Selection

Once you've got to know your team, you will together chose the challenge that you will tackle among the list of proposed challenges within your team's assigned topic.

Should you want to learn more about a topic area, you can reach out to mentors on Slack (if not yet on Slack, click on "Join Slack" in the #VersusVirus App) via the #help-ask-a-mentor channel or the various channels whose name starts with #mentor.

Please vote for your challenge via the #VersusVirus App until May 28, 23:00 CEST. After that time, each team will have a challenge assigned.

Should you have questions, you can reach out to the helpdesk (for specific questions) or use the #help channel on Slack (for general-purpose questions).

Getting ready to Hack...

Friday is free until 18:00 CEST to allow you to handle any committments you may have. You are not obliged to hack during that time, but of course you are more than welcome to do so if your schedule allows.

Let's Hack!

We hope that you'll be fresh and ready to hack by Friday, May 29, 18:00 CEST.

We'll have a brief streaming (with a surprise!) that will guide you a bit through the week-end and inform you about the various update and how-to sessions planned during the week-end. At any time, you can see the schedule in the #VersusVirus App.

Remeber: you can always reach out to the helpdesk (for specific questions) or use the #help channel on Slack (for general-purpose questions).

Update #1

We will touch base on May 30 at 11:00 CEST for a first update, getting the temperature, answering some of the most asked questions, and present you the programme for the day.

Update #2

We will touch base again on May 30 at 18:00 CEST. In addition to the usual topics covered during updats, we will have a presentation of our #VersusVirus Incubator.

The #VersusVirus Incubator programme has been designed to allow promising teams launched during Hackathons to reach their potential quickly.

Update #3

One last update before the closing of the Hackathon is scheduled on May 31 at 11:00 CEST.

Project Submission

All good things come to an end, but we hope you enjoyed the Hackathon!

By Sunday, May 31, 18:00 CEST we expect you to have uploaded your solutions on the #VersusVirus App.

Of course you're more than welcome -- and in fact encouraged! -- to keep working on your projects after the Hackathon. You can also apply to join our #VersusVirus Incubator programme.

End of Hackathon

We will have one last livestream at the end of the Hackathon, where participants will be able to share their experience if they wish to.

Closing Ceremony

After a 24-hour break, we invite you to the closing ceremony, where some highlights of this hackathon will be presented and we will present you some opportunities. We hope you can make it!
